Biography

Dr Bruce Xiao WANG is a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of English and Communication, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics (Forensic Speech Science) from the University of York. Before joining PolyU, he served as a lecturer in Phonetics at the Newcastle University.

Dr Wang’s research interests encompass acoustic phonetics, forensic phonetics and speech analysis. His recent work involves the analyses of speech post-stroke dysarthric speakers who received transcranial direct current stimulation. Dr Wang has also been invited to deliver talks from overseas universities such as Southwest University of Political Science & Law, Southern Luzon State University and University of North Georgia. In the long term, Dr Wang hopes to work with clinicians, speech therapists, engineers and computer scientists to develop tools for the assessment of disordered speech and the evaluation of certain speech interventions.
