Biography
Dr. Zhang Yixin is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She obtained her MPhil and PhD degree in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics at University of Cambridge in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
Dr. Zhang research interests align with ageing-related theme including grasping the interplay between speech, communication challenges and cognitive or neurological conditions. Besides, her works on cross-modal perception especially the interactions between visual and auditory cues in emotion and speech recognition provide insights into sensory integration issues, which often affects older adults. Dr. Zhang has publications in various journals such as Speech Communication, Frontiers in Communication and PloS One, demonstrating a strong publication record. She hopes that she can contributes her findings and insights into practical interventions for fostering the well-being for older adults, benefiting Hong Kong and the global community.
