Prof. Christina Zonghao Ma is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Therapist (CRT) and Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist (CPO, ISPO Category I) respectively.

With prior experiences in working in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, Prof. Ma is aware that how physical disability can significantly affect the quality of life of older adults, patients and their caregivers. Therefore, she is strived to promoting their quality of life thorough research and development. She contributes to the fields such as ageing and disability, active health, fall prevention and smart ageing solution. Her research works have been published in various journals including Age and Ageing, Biosensors and Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research. Besides, she has served as an editor of journals such as BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and Frontiers in Neurology. Apart from doing research related to the above areas, Prof. Ma has developed innovations. She has designed a series of smart wearable devices which monitor the postural balance, walking pattern and muscle contraction performance, then provide some real-time feedback for necessary motion adjustments. These devices can act as balance/motion aids in daily life and facilitate community-/home-based training. Her novels can benefit older adults, patients with stroke, trainers/trainees of muscular fitness training, lower-limb amputees and patients with low back pain.
