Biography
Prof. Chunyi WEN is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He obtained his MBBS degree from West China School of Medicine and practiced in West China Hospital, a top-ranked hospital in China. Later, he received Master of Medical Science and Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively.
Prof. Wen leads a start-up in Hong Kong aimed at combating osteoarthritis—a leading cause of chronic pain and disability in older adults, affecting 500 million people worldwide. His team has developed an innovative AI-driven knee osteoarthritis (KOA) management system, which has garnered significant media attention. Additionally, he has conducted extensive research related to osteoarthritis, with his work published in top-tier journals such as Nature Microbiology and Nature Reviews Rheumatology. His innovations and contributions to the study of osteoarthritis have been internationally recognized by receiving the Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award (Hong Kong) 2022 in the biology and medicine category, organised by the National Academy of Medicine of the United States.
