Biography

Prof. Yee Lan Elaine KWONG is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She received her Bachelor of Science (Speech and Hearing Science) with First Class Honours and Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Before joining PolyU, she had worked as a Speech Language Pathologist in clinical settings and taught in tertiary institutes in Hong Kong. 

With extensive experiences in clinical settings, Prof. Kwong's research interests include dysphagia, voice sciences, voice disorders, swallowing, and ultrasound. She is also passionate about studying the relations between speech impairments related to tooth loss, psychosocial impairment, dietary inflammation and the cognitive abilities of senior citizens. Her work has been published in international journals such as the Journal of Dentistry and Journal of Oral Rehabilitation. Through her research, Prof. Kwong contributes to improving the quality of long-term care services by providing valuable insights into assessing dysphagia in older adults receiving these services. Additionally, she has led several ageing-related projects as a Principal Investigator (PI).
