刘博士在华盛顿大学医学院获得康复治疗与参与科学博士学位,并在匹兹堡大学完成了睡眠医学与複杂性干预的博士后研究。在加入香港理工大学康复治疗科学系之前,他曾在华盛顿大学医学院担任职业治疗学与神经科学的助理教授。
刘博士的研究重点是心理健康、睡眠与认知的交互作用。他的使命是开发精确而又方便病人的个人化康复治疗计划,旨在减少残疾并提升社区健康。他致力于了解睡眠、心理健康与认知之间的複杂机制。他的研究利用流动医疗科技,提供即时的体内监测,识别患上神经疾病后导致不良结果的因素。这些研究促进了複杂性干预的开发,从而改善患者健康,并支持他们在社区中的功能表现。他的研究已在多份顶尖康复治疗与睡眠医学期刊上发表,并获美国国家卫生研究院资助的康复治疗大型数据研究中心颁授青年研究者,还获得了美国睡眠医学学会2024年度青年研究者奖项。
