Sanchez博士是一位生物医学科学家、认证「正念饮食觉知训练」(MB-EAT) 导师以及认证健康和保健教练。她在墨西哥的ENCB-IPN学院取得制药及工业化学学士学位,其后取得乌特勒支卓越奖学金,在荷兰乌特勒支大学完成生物医学硕士学位。她在香港理工大学获得生物科学博士学位。此外,她还在瑞典歌德堡大学完成了博士后研究,并作为访问学者在西澳大学完成了肥胖管理的密集研究培训。Sanchez博士也在美国正念饮食培训学院完成了正念教学认证和健康与保健辅导培训,并在英国正念冥想学院完成了正念教学培训课程。
她的研究重点是基于正念的介入措施在解决饮食失调行为方面的功效,及其在肥胖管理背景下的潜在神经生理机制。此外,她也对精神和神经系统疾病的分子机制进行研究,特别关注神经生成以及补充和替代医学(CAM)、例如芳香疗法和传统中医疗法的影响。这项工作探讨了神经生成作为与神经系统和情感障碍的病理生理学相关的重要可塑性机制,并使用细胞模型和动物模型研究 CAM 对神经生成的影响。
身为香港的首席研究员,Sanchez博士成功透过多个计划获得了超过150万港元的资助,包括理大Student-Staff Partnership 种子基金资助的「透过同情心促进协作学习」项目、政府医疗卫生研究基金研究奖学金计划资助的「用于肥胖管理的基于正念的数码饮食意识培训」,以及用于研究熏衣草精油作为忧郁症治疗潜力的启动资金。此外,她还利用 Bertil 和 Berit Adström 研究基金会的资助在瑞典领导了肾脏疾病研究项目,并担任香港大学《与你同行》资助计划下的一个在香港预防自杀的项目的负责人。
