Ms Vicky CHU Lai-chun
Administrative Manager and Director, Asian Medical Diagnostic Centre Limited
Ms Vicky Chu Lai-chun has held the positions of Administrative Manager and Director at the Asian Medical Diagnostic Centre Limited since 2010. Previously, from 1993 to 2010, she was the centre’s Laboratory Manager and Director, regularly recruiting PolyU alumni to fill roles as medical laboratory technicians and technologists. With her deep expertise, Ms Chu has been a key supporter and mentor of students in the field of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS). While working in hospitals, she recognised a gap in educational opportunities and in 1987 spearheaded the establishment of a Bachelor of Science programme in MLS, in partnership with Charles Sturt University in Australia. The programme was designed to cater for Hong Kong Polytechnic MLS graduates who held only a diploma. Dedicated to advancing MLS as a profession, Ms Chu has been a Member of the Hong Kong Medical Laboratory Technologists Board since 1990. In 2002, she co-founded the Hong Kong Association of Medical Laboratories Limited, which she continues to serve and lead to promote MLS. She has also been a key organiser of conferences to foster professional development in the MLS field and enhance public–private communication. In addition to her professional endeavours, Ms Chu has made significant philanthropic contributions to PolyU. Her donations as an Ordinary Member have helped support the PolyU Foundation.
