The PolyU Design Hatch Awards organised by the School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a competition that caters to diverse interests and aptitudes, nurturing the creative potential of secondary school students. More than a design competition, the 2024 edition hopes to provide a platform where participants can unleash their possibilities and get a head start on the idea of ‘design’.

Participants first submit their design concepts, while shortlisted students proceed to a four-day Hatch Programme, taking their skills up a notch. Embracing a spectrum of design disciplines: Communication Design, Community, Space and Service Design, Product Experience Design, Play Design, and AI and Future Design. The spin-off Summer Edition goes further to deconstruct design disciplines and embrace the essence of Good Design being an integrated approach.

After a full year of dedication, we present to you, the outstanding Hatch Awards projects with a fresh take on the social and life advancements through the lens of a secondary school students.
