应用语言科学博士

本课程旨在培育语言应用领域的专家和领导人才,以适应全球化数字化时代对语言应用、语言科学发展的要求和挑战。

课程着重加深学生对现代语言学理论和应用语言学研究方法的认识,引导学生探索和分析多语、多文化社会中的语言教育、专业语言应用以及语言信息处理等方面的问题,培养学生发展创新性的学术研究和解决问题的能力。

应用语言科学博士课程是理大人文学院的博士课程。
课程的专业教学团队来自人文学院下辖的中文及双语学系、英文及传意学系、英语教学中心及工程学院的电子计算学系。课程设计旨在扩宽和深化学生对语言学以及相关领域的知识,培养学生具备不同的整合能力,即整合语言学理论为专业语言应用服务的能力,整合全球视野与本地思考为发展创新性学术研究的能力,让学生更好地提出、解决与其专业或职业相关的问题。

灵活的课程培养模式学生可依据自己的学习步伐,以四年全日制或五年兼读制模式,配合不同选项修读博士课程。

课程包括面授课程和撰写论文,合共修读48个学分。当中24个学分为研究论文,学生需要在论文中表现对相关文献和研究方法的知识和理解,同时反映学生对有关实践问题的独特见解,并利用理论解决实际问题的能力。学生需要为论文进行口头答辩。

另外24个学分为面授课程,除了必修课程外,学生可从以下四个领域内选择选修课程。

语言教学

专注于语言教学的知识和技术的提高及培养,如语言学和语言习得理论、语料库建设和话语分析;注重研究第一和第二语言学习的过程,特别探讨语言的社会功能和角色,探讨教学、学习、课程发展和评估的趋势。

跨文化与专业语言传意

着重传授跨文化组织和专业传意的主要概念、理论和研究范式,并进一步提高学生在跨文化专业和个人传意方面的能力。此领域注重对跨文化专业实践的知识以及研究能力的培养,包括对各种不同文化语境和专业范围内的口语、书面语和多模态话语的研究和分析能力的培养。

翻译与传译

为现职大学教师及在翻译和传译范畴工作的学生提供进一步的专业培训和知识提升,包括语言学理论,跨文化背景下的修辞学研究,当代翻译和传译理论,以及语言类型学等跨学科、多样性的研究。

语言科学,语言处理与认知*
This focus area is built on the knowledge of how language is processed, with the intention to apply this knowledge to areas such as communication disorders, digital humanities, language and speech sciences, language technology and neuro-cognitive approaches to language use and language learning. Language technology, including computational and neuro-cognitive technologies, permeates many aspects of life and has an indispensable role to play in the delivery of language policies, language education and language related health care, as well as in a wide range of content industries and the knowledge economy. A critical understanding of how language is processed in the mind as well as language processing technologies is an essential part of a professional’s competence. The focus area is suited for professionals whose work is related to one or more of the following academic fields: Communication Disorder and Speech Therapy, Digital Humanities, Health Informatics, Natural Language Processing and Neuro-cognitive Linguistics.

Remarks: Starting from the 2022/23 intake cohort, students enrolled on taught postgraduate programmes are required to complete a 3-hour online module plus 3 hours of self-study on “Understanding China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, P.R.C” and pass the assessment (multiple attempts allowed) in the form of multiple-choice questions online, normally within their first year of studies, as a graduation requirement.

如有需要,学生可申请延长修读年期,供校方审批。 (适用于2020/21或其后入学之学生)。  

入学要求

申请者需达到以下基本入学要求,同时需有实质和相关的工作经验:
持有相关硕士学位或同等学历及5年学士 后工作经验;

持有相关硕士学位或同等学历及2年硕士后工作经验。

英语水平要求
如申请者所持学位由非英语授课的大学颁发,申请者需达到以下英语水平要求:

国际英语测试系统/雅思(IELTS)得分6.5或以上(其中写作部分需得分6.0或以上);或
托福(TOEFL)网路考试得分90或以上(其中写作部分需得分23或以上) 。
课程亦考虑其他国际认可公开考试的成绩。

所有英语水平考试成绩,由考试日起计有效期为兩年。
每个入学申请均独立处理。申请者可能被邀请参与面试或测试,以证明申请者具有所需的语言能力进行研究。

修读学分  48个学分(包括24个面授课程学分,24个论文学分及1个Academic Integrity and Ethics (AIE) 課程學分)

论文延期递交费用  每学期为港币19,000元

本课程设有奖学金,以学费扣减形式颁发予由学院挑选学术成绩优异的杰出学生。
