Experienced Scholars Invited to Share their Insights into Chinese Language Learning

In order to further improve the teaching efficiency of the CLC teaching team, the Centre invited experienced Chinese language teaching staff and leaders from sister universities to share their design of Chinese teaching and achievements at this year's departmental retreat held online on 24 Aug 2022.
The first speaker, Dr Ng Hok-chung, Associate Head and Section Head of Chinese of Language Centre, Hong Kong Baptist University, began with a comprehensive overview of the Chinese teaching service provided for their university students with different backgrounds including local, Mainland Chinese and international students, and then he shared the challenges they faced with special reference to the pandemic and their coping strategies which combined technological advancements and tailor-made and humanised arrangements.
Another speaker, Dr Christy Chung Ming-wai, from the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme, School of Chinese, The University of Hong Kong, shared the innovation on Chinese Discipline Specific programme (DSR) in her unit. She first outlined the overview of DSR courses in the eight Universities. After that she highlighted the recent development of Chinese Enhancement Programme, communication incentive courses (CiC) and CiC certificate in HKU.
Each session ended with a response from a subject coordinator from CLC as well as inspiring discussion and dialogue between the speakers and CLC teachers.
