I keenly desire to pursue a PhD in neurological physiotherapy in order to gain more insights into the management of neurological patients by incorporating non-invasive neuromodulation techniques such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
What informed my decision to study at RS, PolyU, is RS’s great effort to triangulate teaching, research and services to touch the lives of the needy and make an impact on the health and wellbeing of people in society. RS scholars are leading researches in numerous disciplines and making bold advances that break new ground. This can be reflected by the fact that four RS academics have recently been ranked among top 2% of scientists in the world.
The title of my research project is “A mixed-method evaluation of the clinical effects and cost-effectiveness of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on neurogenic urinary incontinence in stroke survivors”. The findings of my proposed study will provide clinicians and researchers with new insights, knowledge, and evidence regarding the effects of rTMS on the management of neurogenic urinary incontinence. The final outcome of the study will benefit stroke survivors with neurogenic bladders and contribute significantly to the field of urinary incontinence management. It may also provide new practice opportunities for physiotherapists in the field of stroke rehabilitation.
Do not forget that the motto of PolyU is “To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind”.
