I am an employees’ compensation claims specialist with 15 years’ insurance experience. I am also a part-time lecturer in disability management at NGOs and universities. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in criminology and law from the University of Toronto and the University of London respectively. Then, I completed my Master of Workplace Injury Management and Occupational Rehabilitation at The University of Newcastle and Master in Psychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am a member of The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF, Senior Associate CIP), and a Certified Disability Management Professional of the Occupational Safety & Health Council (OSHC), Hong Kong and the Canadian Society of Professionals in Disability Management (CSPDM).
My research interest is to develop a decision support system to predict the long-term work disability and treatment needs of injured workers by using machine learning technology. I have chosen to study at RS of PolyU because my supervisor Dr Andy Cheng is an expert in the fields of work injury and disability management. My research would provide a scientific reference for work disability managers to make decisions on the rehabilitation treatments required and for the Labour Department to make medical assessments to determine the percentage of permanent work incapacity.
