Keynote Speaker
Prof. Jonathan C. Borg
Professor of the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, University of Malta
Jonathan C. Borg graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta in 1989. After working with the Maltese Water Authority, managing CAED systems and contributing to a computational model of the water aquifer, in 1992, he joined the University to lecture and perform research in product development. He holds an MSc in CAED (1993) and a PhD in intelligent concurrent product design (1999), both from the University of Strathclyde (UK). He served as Head of the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering for 12 years, established the MSc in Integrated Product Development (IPD) and co-founded the International PhD Summer School on IPD in 2014. Since 2019, he has chaired the Faculty's Industrial Advisory Board. Borg has been an EC appointed expert evaluator since 2002 and twice chaired the European Research Council's evaluation panel for Products & Processes. Recognized internationally, he was awarded a Medal of Appreciation by the UK Institution of Engineering Designers and has been made an Honorary Professor at the University of Miskolc. He leads the Concurrent Engineering Research Unit and has over 140 scientific publications.
