The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design (PolyU Design) rises eight places in the 2019 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings in the Art and Design subject.
The School is honoured to receive this recognition and are thrilled to see the climbing position this year. Teaching and Research at the School is focused on human-centred value creation and meaningful experiences, and research is conducted under the themes of Design Social, Design Economies, and Design Making.
Recent projects include:
- Comparative study of the inclusiveness of the design of open space facilities for visually impaired persons in densely populated cities
- Developing technology-enhanced interactive home facilities targeted to prevent overuse of smartphones
- Research on the notion of compressed liveability on the limited land in Hong Kong
- Positive ageing projects including meaningful intergenerational games for live-alone senior citizens and redesigned medicine administration for the elderly
- Preserving our local culture and visual languages of Hong Kong’s Neon Signs through archiving
- Faceforms and ergonomic design for Asian people making better body-fit products
- Developing project-based eLearning strategy and model in school of design
- Designing memorable and meaningful tourism experiences
- Design with foresight, engaging in university-industry collaboration
