“This internship has allowed me to engage in activities that align with my personal interests within a community setting.” – Ada NG

During her internship at Very Hong Kong, Ada hoped to deepen her understanding of the practical steps involved in organizing community events, applying knowledge in real-world scenarios, and contributing to a team.

Learning Goals and Outcomes

During her internship, Ada participated in the “Space” and “Festival” projects, conducted interviews with minibus drivers and organized the “Minibus Tour”. She also assisted with interviews for a promotional video and with back-alley hunting, designed lightboxes, and contributed to the “Art in Place” initiative. After completing her internship, Ada realized that it had helped her to discern her preferred career path and enhanced her understanding of the concepts of social design and the division of labour.

Internship Outputs and Amazing Experiences

Ada stated that the internship provided her with an invaluable opportunity to step out of her comfort zone and develop new skills, such as lightbox design skills. Overall, she believed that her internship experience contributed substantially to her career-path development.

Ada’s workplace supervisor described her as productive, responsible, reliable, and proactive and noted that she possessed outstanding interpersonal skills, was willing to accept challenges, and was a good team player. The supervisor was confident that in the near future, as Ada gained further experience in community project management, she would be capable of championing impactful urban projects that improve our city.

Advice to Future Students

“Keeping open-minded to face everything and being brave to share ideas is the best attitude when doing the internship because the role of a student is always the best ‘excuse' for us to make mistakes”
