Our graduate Miss KWONG Tsz Yan Angel (Communication Design, 2018) whose typeface design ‘Chek Lap Sans’ won the First Prize in The World’s Best Typography, an international competition organised by Type Directors Club (TDC) in New York. It is the top student honour among other prize winners from New York, Taipei and Los Angeles.
Chek Lap Sans is a wayfinding system for Hong Kong International Airport that includes 150 Chinese characters and 39 icons. It will join the traveling exhibition with other amazing works in more than 35 cities throughout the world. Currently, the work was displayed at The Cooper Union’s Gallery 41 in New York and now being shown at TypeCon in Minneapolis 28 Aug to 1 Sept, and at the ATypI conference in Tokyo 4-7 Sept.
