Biography

Eric Siu is a Hong Kong-based interaction designer. He has a Bachelor's degree in Media Arts and a Master of Design in Interaction Design, with solid hands-on experience in Visual Communication, Digital Media Design, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Filmmaking, and Design Education.

Eric began his design journey as a graphic designer at a communication design agency before establishing his experimental design studio. Through his studio, he integrated design, art, and technology into commissioned projects from experts across various fields, including architects, artists, gallery owners, dojo monks, and filmmakers. Concurrently, he entered art and design education by teaching media arts at the Hong Kong Art School.

In the second phase of his design career, Eric transitioned into the role of a user experience consultant, focusing on usability research and UI design production, serving client projects, including CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, Li & Fung Limited, and the HKU Centennial Campus.

Before joining the PolyU School of Design, Eric worked as a lecturer at the PolyU HKCC and SPEED, where he taught Interaction Design and UX-related subjects. He was also involved in various non-teaching projects, such as The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust Arts Tech Lab and Public Education Programme, and served as a UI consultant for the revamp of the CPCE website and the SSHD division website.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Eric engaged in exhibition projects, including the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture. He was appointed as the Theme Designer for the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale Hong Kong Pavilion and contributed to the R&D efforts for the Shanghai World Expo - Hong Kong's Urban Best Practice Area Pavilion.

Eric has also been involved in filmmaking, with one of the documentary films he participated in being nominated and screened at the Golden Horse Awards. His feature-length documentary received funding from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Eric finds enjoyment in exploring tangible interaction with emerging technologies and engaging in innovative practices as a MAKER in his leisure time.
