Biography
Dr Maxime Wang received his PhD in Hospitality Administration from the University of
Houston, United States, in 2019. Before joining the School of Hotel and Tourism Management
at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as Assistant Professor, he worked at the University of
Houston as a Research Associate in the Office of Faculty Engagement and Development,
Research Assistant and Instructor in the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant
Management. His research goal is to help improve hospitality employees’ competence and
individual well-being through the creation of a positive work environment. His research focuses
on the error management, organizational culture, learning, leadership, employees’ emotions,
service failure and recovery. His work is published in peer-reviewed journal articles including
International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, International Journal of
Hospitality Management, and International Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Administration.
He received the Best Paper Award at the West Federation CHRIE conference in 2018. Courses
he taught include Human Resource Management, Leadership in the Hospitality Industry at the
undergraduate level, Meeting and Convention Management at both undergraduate and graduate
levels. He is fluent in Mandarin, English, and French.
