Biography

Hammoda ABU-ODAH, BSN, MPH, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor Iin shcool of nursing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Abu-Odah is an alumnus of the PolyU, where he earned his PhD in Nursing. He was awarded the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship for the academic year 2018/19 to pursue his studies at the School of Nursing-PolyU. His dissertation was recognized with the Faculty Distinguished Thesis Award from the Faculty of Health and Social Science in 2022.

Throughout his doctoral studies and afterwards, ABU-ODAH published over 45 articles in leading journals, making significant contributions to the field of health sciences, including transitional, supportive and palliative care. His ground-breaking work includes advanced health statistics using SPSS and psychometric validation for measurements. With over a decade of experience in health research, his focus areas include palliative care cancer and psychometrics analysis. In 2024, he completed a Rasch Analysis Course at Leeds University and advance Rasch Analysis Course at the University of Western Australia to stay abreast of the latest developments in psychometrics analysis and Rasch measurement theory. In addition to his research, ABU-ODAH has extensive experience in advanced statistical analysis, including multivariate analysis, advanced regression models, time series analysis, structural equation modelling, factor analysis, item response theory, and classical test theory. He also has experience in advanced programming for mapping research, using VOS viewer, Gephi, and Cite Space programs, which are widely used tools for visually exploring scientific literature.
