Transmission Electron Microscope (JEOL Model JEM-2010)

Introduction:

CIMG4261

The JEOL JEM-2010 Transmission Electron Microscope (hair pin type Tungsten filament) is a conventional TEM. It is optimized for BF/DF imaging and diffraction. It operates at 120 kV. It is equipped with Gatan 794 CCD camera, which is used for bio-/soft materials science and electron diffraction technique. The regular single tilt and double tilt holders are also equipped.

Applications:

  • Dark Field Image
  • Bright Field Image
  • Selected Area Electron Diffraction

Notes to users:

Biological specimens should be prepared by users for TEM in their own respective departments. There are no safe facilities within PolyU-CEM for preparation of biological specimens.

The user must ensure biological rules in using the TEM, handling biological samples and during transportation to PolyU-CEM. Inexperience users of the TEM are required to get training from the laboratory supervisor. Any first-time user of PolyU-CEM is required to be trained for microscopy skills.

Specimens should ideally be less than 100nm in thickness, prepared carefully to minimize specimen contamination.
