Teachers at PolyU are constantly looking for ways to enhance teaching, learning and assessment and to increasingly engage students in the process. One way to actively engage students is to create opportunities for students and staff to collaborate and work together in partnerships. Student-Staff Partnerships (SSP) can be defined in several ways and can have various purposes and practices. Usually, SSP entail students and staff working collaboratively, in ways that are different from established practices of teaching and learning in higher education institutions.
This CoP proposes to build a community that seeks to empower students and staff to work together in the teaching, learning and assessment process. By building a network of PolyU staff from across departments, schools, faculties, and non-academic centres, it is hoped that the CoP will enrich its members' knowledge of, and increase their confidence when implementing, SSP projects. It is envisaged that a balanced membership of academics, students (who will be invited as guests) and educational specialists, in this close collaboration will increase the chance of success of this CoP. Students will also be regularly invited to CoP events, both as participants and presenters.
