Students meeting the requirement for both categories will get the Entry Scholarships ONCE for whichever category of higher value, being capped at the maximum amount received by a student per academic year as stipulated by the University guideline.

 

Remarks:

^ The Extended Mathematics modules will also be taken into account for scholarship consideration.

A student can concurrently hold more than one scholarship administered by the University in an academic year if the total value of scholarships received by him/her does not exceed his/her annual tuition fee payable plus HK$50,000 unless otherwise stipulated.

Two one-off entry scholarships of HK$10,000 each will be granted to students admitted into the Senior Year places of each programme (Applied Biology with Biotechnology/ Analytical Sciences for Testing and Certification/ Chemical Technology) who graduated from an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma with a graduation/award GPA of 3.60 or above (or equivalent). Students’ performance in the admission interview will be taken into consideration.

 The recipients must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in the first semester of study and are not allowed to concurrently hold more than one Entry Scholarship awarded by the Department.



     

For International Students

PolyU embraces students with special talents in Sports, Arts and Culture, Leadership and Community Services, and STEM through Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS).  The scheme serves as an alternative admission route for students whose exceptional achievements cannot be fully reflected in their academic results. These scholarships are for students who have performed outstandingly at high school, before studying at PolyU. Interviews would be arranged for scholarship applicants. Applicants who wish to be considered for PolyU Entry Scholarship should fill in the scholarship application section via eAdmission. Those who are awarded the merit-based scholarships will be notified when they are offered a place at PolyU.

Taught postgraduate programmes

Two one-off entry scholarships of HK$10,000 each will be granted to applicants who are admitted during the Early Round Application period (by 19 November 2024) and obtained a Bachelor’s degree with Second Class (Division I) Honours or above (or equivalent). Another two one-off entry scholarships of HK$10,000 each will be granted to applicants with excellent academic achievements. The recipients are not allowed to concurrently hold more than one Entry Scholarship awarded by the Department.

Scholarship during Study period


Undergraduate programmes

    • Awarded to students with the highest GPA in their respective year groups.
    • One award per year per program
    • Each awardee would receive HKD500
    • Recognizes students who have shown outstanding leadership qualities within the department, such as leading student organizations or initiatives
    • Awarded to students who have made significant contributions to community service, either within the university or in the broader community.
    • Recognizes students who have excelled in academic or professional competitions, such as case competitions, hackathons, or other relevant contests.
    • Two awards (HKD300 each) per year per program (team award allowed, but prize capped at HKD500)
    • Given to students who embody the values and spirit of the department, showing dedication, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
    • Recognizes students who have developed meaningful partnerships with community organizations, contributing to the department’s outreach and impact.
    • Awarded to students who have overcome significant challenges or obstacles during their studies and have shown remarkable resilience and determination.
    • Awardee nominated by Departmental Learning and Teaching Committee would receive HKD300 )

     

For International students

Joint scholarships (jointly offered by the University and the respective departments) and departmental scholarships are offered for outstanding students to apply for admission to the undergraduate programmes under the respective departments. Please click HERE for details.

These scholarships are for students who are already studying at PolyU and are awarded on the basis of academic and/or non-academic achievements. These scholarships are normally awarded on academic merit and/or according to other specific conditions as stipulated by the donors. Some are specifically intended for travel so that students can broaden their professional knowledge and widen their personal horizons.

The Belt and Road Scholarship is established by the HKSAR Government with a view to welcome more outstanding students from regions along the Belt and Road to pursue university studies in Hong Kong. PolyU will nominate outstanding applicants from Belt and Road regions to the HKSAR Government. Awardees would receive a scholarship to cover their tuition fees. The Scholarship is open to students from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and other Belt and Road countries.

To further strengthen and enhance our diverse undergraduate student body, the Cultural Ambassador Scholarship is set up for non-local students from underrepresented nationalities. The one-off scholarship of HKD50,000 is awarded to selected students during their first year of study. Recipients are required to work together with the Global Engagement Office, reaching out further to international prospective students and parents to promote our undergraduate programmes and schemes.


     

Taught postgraduate programmes

(Applicable to Master of Science in Sustainable Technology for Carbon Neutrality  and Master of Science in Biopharmaceutical Development and Commercialization

    • Awarded to students with the highest GPA in their respective year groups.
    • One award per year per programme. Each awardee will receive HKD500.
    • Given to students who have demonstrated exceptional innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, such as starting a business, developing a new product, or creating a unique project.
    • Recognizes students who have excelled in academic or professional competitions, such as case competitions, hackathons, or other relevant contests.
    • Three award per year per programme. Each awardee will receive HKD500.
    • Awarded to students who have shown outstanding commitment to their professional development through internships, workshops, certifications, or other career-related activities.
    • Three award per year per programme. Each awardee will receive HKD500.
