On 31 March 2025, around 50 enthusiastic alumni gathered at Bistro 1979, a multi-function food and beverage restaurant unit within the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) complex, for an unforgettable evening that blended fine dining with refined etiquette – marking the official launch of the Alumni Foodie Club in the most tasteful way possible.
Led by Dr Dave Chan from SHTM, the evening featured a hands-on and engaging lesson in table manners and dinner etiquette. Participants were guided through the finer points of formal dining, from how to properly use each utensil and manage a napkin to sipping soup with style and mastering the basics of wine pairing. Far from being a typical lecture, the session was both insightful and interactive. Questions were actively raised, and practical tips were shared throughout the meal.
As the alumni enjoyed a delicious four-course dinner accompanied by three glasses of wine, the warm homecoming atmosphere made it easy for everyone to relax, connect, and engage in pleasant conversations, fostering new friendships and lasting memories. Most excitingly, the evening also marked the official launch of the Alumni Foodie Club, bringing graduates together to celebrate their shared passion for culinary experiences and fine beverages.
This event is just the beginning of many more delightful gatherings to come. With overwhelming interest and seats filling up fast, we are already coming up with ideas for the next Foodie Club experience!
