Dr TSANG Yat-man

Dr Tsang Yat-man, currently Director of Radiation Therapy in Radiation Medicine Program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, Canada, obtained his BSc degree from PolyU, before earning his MSc and PhD degrees in the U.K. From 2006 to 2022, he accumulated extensive hands-on and research experiences as a radiographer in the U.K. A long-standing member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) Radiation Therapist (RTT) committee, Dr Tsang is also passionate about teaching and education, supervising MSc and PhD students and serving on external PhD examination panels. Under the ESTRO RTT committee, he spearheaded a number of international radiotherapy projects and his contributions led to his appointment as the Chair of the ESTRO RTT committee in 2023, a truly prestigious title. A world-leading radiation therapy expert, Dr Tsang has prolific academic output spanning numerous topics in radiation therapy, playing a vital role in advancing the development of evidence-based practice in radiation therapy. His UK Fellowship of the College of Radiographers (FCR) highlights his significant contributions to the radiography profession.
Prof. Kent LAI

Prof. Kent Lai graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic, the predecessor of PolyU, with a diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences, prior to earning his bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees in the U.K. and the U.S. Prof. Lai’s career as an independent researcher and educator began in 2002 at the University of Miami, where he was promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Paediatrics within six years. After joining the University of Utah as Associate Professor in 2009, he was promoted to tenured Full Professor in 2014 and has held Adjunct Professorship since 2017. Prof. Lai is recognised for his research on the development of novel therapeutics for rare diseases, such as classic galactosemia, phosphoglucomutase I deficiency, and cancers. Once a member of the American Heart Association and National Institutes of Health (NIH) Small Business Programs Study Sections, he has been the principal investigator for numerous research grants awarded by NIH, the American Heart Association, and Galactosemia Foundation. An inventor with multiple patents, and an author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and three review articles, Prof. Lai currently also serves as Associate Editor of BMC Medical Genomics, and Academic Editor of PLOS One.
