World leading research and top world ranking
In the Research Assessment Exercise 2020, 89% of AMA's research received a 4- or 3-star rating, signifying 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent' quality by international standards.
According to The US News & World Report 2025, PolyU has achieved a new high ranking of 30th place for “Best Global Universities for Mathematics” (#1 in Hong Kong). Additionally, while maintaining our position among the World Top 100 in the QS World University Ranking for “Statistics and Operational Research” for the seventh consecutive year, PolyU has proudly attained a new ranking of 32nd in the “Data Science & AI” subject. Our excellence in mathematics has also been recognized by Research.com, which ranked PolyU as the 5th Best Mathematics University in China. Moreover, AMA demonstrated a commendable performance in the 2024/25 GRF/ECS Exercise, securing funding support for 20 projects.

Funded Teaching & Learning Project
In addition to our research accomplishments, we take pride in our efforts to make significant advance in teaching.
Building on the success of leading the award-winning project “Developing Active Learning Pedagogies and Mobile Applications in University STEM Education” in 2017, our Teaching & Learning Team has expanded its efforts to bring technology-enabled active learning pedagogies to secondary school mathematics education. The team's project, “Developing Active Learning Pedagogies and Mobile Applications in Secondary School Mathematics Education” , has received funding support from the Quality Education Fund (QEF) of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong in 2020.
In 2024, our Teaching & Learning Team proposed a project titled “Empowering Gifted Minds: Nurturing the Next Generation of Data Scientists” and received funding support from the Gifted Education Fund of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong.
We are honored to patriciate in and contribute to the development of research and teaching in Mathematics education and remain committed to striving for further improvement.
