Dr Li Xiao

Research Assistant Professor

李曉博士

Biography

Dr. Li received his B.S. in Information and Computing Science at Beijing Institute of Technology in 2011, and Ph.D. degree in Computational Mathematics at Beijing Normal University in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Hui Zhang. Then, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Beijing Computational Science Research Center, University of South Carolina, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 2020, he joined Department of Applied Mathematics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a research assistant professor.

Dr. Li mainly focuses on the development and analysis of stable and accurate numerical methods for phase-field equations and some high-order parabolic equations. He provided complete analysis of energy stability and error estimates for the exponential time differencing method applied to phase-field equations. He developed a series of efficient numerical algorithms preserving the maximum bound principle and established an abstract framework on the maximum bound principle for a class of semilinear parabolic equations and their exponential time differencing schemes.
