According to University regulations, students are required to graduate as soon as they satisfy their requirements for award. If you will be meeting the graduation requirements in Semester One of the 2024/25 academic year, please read through the following arrangements and apply for graduation.
Application Period
16 September - 4 October 2024
Application Procedures
Please refer to the 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQs) for the procedures and other important notes related to the application. You should click the 'Application for Graduation' link for submission of your application (eStudent > My Profile > Study Information > Application for Graduation).
Selection of Free Elective Subjects
If your graduation requirements contain the 'Free Elective' subset, you will have to indicate the subjects to fulfil this requirement.
Application for Counting of Subject(s) under Major Programme towards Minor Study
Students who have opted Minor may be allowed to count up to 6 credits from their Major (including GUR subjects but excluding Free Elective subjects) towards the Minor subject requirements. If your Major subjects taken are the same as the Minor compulsory subjects, you are required to apply/submit Form AR147a to obtain approval from the Minor offering department, and count these subjects for graduation, before your application for graduation (AR Homepage > For Students on Taught Programmes > Application Forms).
Reference Checklist
Information on your application for graduation, selected Free Elective subjects and approved overlapping Major/Minor subjects, if any, will be reported in your Reference Checklist (eStudent > My Profile > Study Information > Reference Checklist).
Fulfilment of Free Elective Requirement for Graduation
Graduates can refer to the "Graduate Checklist" for the subjects taken to fulfil the requirements of your award including the Free elective requirement, if any in your programme curriculum, upon the release of overall results (eStudent > My Profile > Study Information > Graduate Checklist).
If you have excess completed subjects and would like to change the subjects taken to fulfil the Free Elective requirement for a better Award GPA, you can approach your programme offering department within 2 weeks (counting from the release of overall results) for consideration and follow-up.
Possible Impact and Enquiries
If you missed applying for graduation and have not chosen any Free Elective subjects, it might result in random selection of subjects (i.e. subjects not taken to fulfil DSR, GUR and Minor requirements) to fulfil the Free Elective requirement and for calculating the Award GPA. Your graduation would probably be delayed or would not be processed with the best scenario.
Please contact your programme offering department for queries on your curriculum or your graduation requirements. In case you encounter any difficulties with the 'Application for Graduation' option, you are advised to find your answers from the FAQs. You may also reach us via AR Homepage > Contact us, email at ar.assess@polyu.edu.hk or through our enquiry hotline at 2333 0600 during office hours.
