Student Exchange Programme
The PolyU Global Student Exchange is a programme designed for PolyU undergraduates to broaden their global outlook, experience a different culture in another country while fulfilling the academic requirements of their degrees at PolyU.
Quotas of outbound exchange for Semester 1 and 2, 2024/25 - available for application for current Year 1 and 2 students
Instructions Applying for Pre-approval of Subject Matchings in Students Exchange:
Pre-Approval of Subject Matchings (AR41a) - Outbound Exchange 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 (Semester 1)
1. Exchange Types:
1. ALL full-time UGC-funded undergraduate students are eligible to apply for outbound exchange programme for one semester. BRE and PolyU partner with a wide range of universities in UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Mainland China.
2. Exchange programme will NOT be regarded as WIE activity. Exchange programme can be counted as BRE 365 International Study. Please indicate this in your application for credit transfer.
3. NO additional tuition fee is required for the exchange. You only pay your normal tuition at PolyU.
2. Exchange Period:
1. You may choose to participate in exchange in semester 1 or semester 2.
2. You are recommended to take exchange not later than semester 2 of Year 3 (by the time when you are in the host institution).
3. The maximum period of exchange is two semesters for four years, including one for overseas and one for Mainland China or Taiwan. The sponsorship from GEO is only for the first GEO outbound exchange activity.
3. Financial Support:
1. All full-time UGC-funded undergraduate students can receive a range of financial assistance, including GEO Scholarship for Student Exchange / GEO Funding for Student Exchange, Hardship Fund Programme and faculty-based Top-up Funding (FCE Outbound Exchange Scholarship), to support living costs during exchange studies overseas. You will be informed through our mass email.
2. The amount of Sponsorship, Hardship Fund and Top-up Funding granted will vary according to different exchange destinations.

5. About BRE 366:
If you plan to take BRE366 during exchange, please note the following:
1. Make-up test will normally be held in December to January;
2. Please participate lectures online through blackboard or watch the lecture recordings through blackboard;
3. Please submit online assignment and participate in library workshop on-line through blackboard;
4. If plan to take make-up test in PolyU, please expect to come back early and plan ahead;
5. Alternatively, you can select similar subject (about research methods and skills) to study in your host institution.
6. Language Requirement:
1. You do not need to submit the result of the language requirement (e.g. IELTS/TOEFL). However, you should check the language requirements of respective universities.
2. You must attain the required level of language requirement as soon as possible after you are notified of the nomination result, and well before you send the application form to the host university.
