Biography

Mayowa is a dynamic researcher in the built environment with passion for research related to sustainable building maintenance. I obtained my BSc and MSc degree in Estate Management from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. I graduated with a first-class honours and distinction respectively. I received bursary scholarshipawards in my undergraduate years for three consecutive years. I am currently a recipient of the Hong Kong Postgraduate Fellowship (HKPFS) which was obtained in 2019. I am also a member of the Urban health and liability cluster of African Research University Alliance (ARUA) domiciled in the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Area of Research

My research interest is broadly on sustainable building maintenance. My primary focus is on Sustainable Facilities Management (SFM) in buildings particularly Heritage or Historic buildings. Emphasis would be placed on neglected Heritage buildings in urban areas and their improvement.

Research Scope

My research scope is focused on Heritage building maintenance and sustainability in developing nations. The research aim is to identify the challenges related to maintenance of Heritage buildings in the era of urbanizations as well as to identify factors that militates against effective and efficient use of Heritage buildings. The research would address these issues from the social, economic and environmental aspects.

Research Methodology

Research methodology to be employed mixed method research. Both qualitative and quantitative research techniques would be adopted. Primary data would be sourced through observation, interviews and questionnaires. The respondents will be professionals in the built environment and users of facilities within the study area. Secondary data would be sourced from existing literatures and reports from relevant authorities. Data obtained would be analyzed using appropriate quantitative research techniques and software.
