The dissertation reports of two 2012 graduates from the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE), Ms CHOI Nga Yee Tracy and Ms YIU Sze Nga Nicole, were adjudicated as the one of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Best Project
Award 2012 winners under the category of Postgraduate Degree Programme organized by the statutory Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC). The Award aimed at encouraging post-secondary students in Hong Kong to
appreciate the importance of occupational safety and health in their studies. The OSHC offers a maximum of ten
awards annually, based on the relevance, quality and originality of the submissions. The two graduates received an award certificate and a cash prize of HK$3,000 during the Good Housekeeping Forum and Award Presentation
Ceremony 2012 launched on 18 December 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Old Wing).
The winning dissertation report of Ms Tracy Choi, being a part-time MPhil graduate in 2012, was entitled “Investigation the Current Application and Exploring the Future Development of Pay for Safety Scheme (PFSS) in Hong Kong Construction Industry”. The dissertation report of Ms Nicole Yiu, who is a part-time graduate of MSc in Project Management programme, was named as “A Critical Study of Heat Stress Management in Hong Kong Construction Industry”. The two winner
s were supervised by Dr Daniel W.M. Chan (陳煒明博士), Associate Professor of the BRE Department.
Moreover, Ms HON Ka Hung Carol was selected as one of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Research Student Scholarship 2009 winners under the category of Postgraduate Degree Programme by OSHC. Her PhD thes
is entitled “Relationships between Safety Climate and Safety Performance of Repair, Maintenance, Minor
Alteration and Addition (RMAA) Works” was supervised by Professor Albert P.C. Chan of BRE. Similarly, Ms CHOI Nga Yee Tracy was also adjudicated as one of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Research Student Scholarship 2009
winners under the same category by OSHC based on her MPhilthesis. The Scholarship is conferred in recognition of the successful completion of the research project and dissertation report of those outstanding research students in Hong Kong.
