In the Outstanding Student Awards (2012-13) organized by the Chartered Institute of Building (Hong Kong), one alumni of the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) was rewarded for her final year dissertation announced on 12 August 2013. Under the bachelor degree category, Miss Wong Wai Ming was one of the three prize winners with her empirical study of evaluating the effectiveness of Safety Partnering Programme (SPP) in improving construction site safety in Hong Kong. She was a full-time surveying degree graduate in June 2013 and was supervised by Dr Daniel W.M. Chan, Associate Professor of BRE.

The primary goals of these awards are to promote excellence in project management in construction and to recognize students with outstanding academic achievements. The awards were based on the quality of student’s own work for final year project/dissertation completed in the academic year 2012-13, the contents of which should be focused on the pertinent aspects of construction project management. The winner received an award certificate and a prize cheque of HK$4,000 at the CIOB(HK) 40th Anniversary Dinner 2013 held on 27 September 2013 at Hotel Nikko.
