In the Outstanding Student Awards (2014-15) organized by the Chartered Institute of Building (Hong Kong), one alumni of the Department of Building and Real Estate (BRE) of PolyU was rewarded for his final year dissertation announced on 30 July 2015. Under the bachelor degree category, Mr Ho Man Lai, Alfred (何文禮) was the prize winner from PolyU with his empirical study of identifying and analyzing the critical success factors for implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Hong Kong. He was a full-time surveying degree graduate in June 2015 with Upper Second Class Honours whose dissertation was supervised by Dr Daniel W.M. Chan, Associate Professor of BRE. Alfred has been working for Gammon Construction Ltd as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) since July 2015.
The primary goals of these awards are to promote excellence in project management in construction and to recognize students with outstanding academic achievements. The awards were based on the quality of student’s own work for final year project/dissertation completed in the academic year 2014-15, the contents of which should be focused on the pertinent aspects of construction project management. The winner received an award certificate and a prize cheque of HK$4,000 at the CIOB(HK) Annual Dinner 2015 held on Friday, 11 September 2015 at the New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon.
