Shen3 Prof. Geoffrey Q.P. Shen, Associate Vice President (Global Partnerships), Director of Global Engagement, and Chair Professor of Construction Management, has secured grants from both the NSFC/RGC Collaborative Research Scheme and the Strategic Public Policy Research Funding for 2023/24. These grants are expected to support projects focused on investigating collaboration within the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Prof. Geoffrey SHEN is leading the project "The Mechanism and Policy Optimisation of Multi-stakeholder Cross-regional Collaboration in the Construction Industry of the GBA", which has received a grant of HK$3.6 million from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Research Grants Council's Collaborative Research Scheme 2023/24 Exercise. This project aims to investigate the mechanisms of cross-regional collaboration among stakeholders under the 'One Country, Two Systems' framework, as well as the influence mechanisms of collaboration behaviour on the performance of collaboration in the construction industry of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) so as to simulate and provide proposals for facilitating the development of relevant cooperation policies.

A research project titled “Policy Framework for Cross-Regional Cooperation Strategies in the Greater Bay Area’s Construction Industry”, led by Prof. Geoffrey SHEN, has been granted HK$3.96 million under the Strategic Public Policy Research Funding Scheme 2023/24 for a period of 36 months.

Focusing on development opportunities for the GBA under the National 14th Five-Year Plan, the research examines three strategic areas - talent cooperation, project management cooperation and regulatory cooperation. It aims to provide effective guidance and identify appropriate strategies to enable government departments and the industry to promote high-quality cooperation within the construction industry across the GBA.
