Two members of the University were named among “2010 China Top 10 Eco Heroes” by mainland magazine The Bund in recognition of their active participation and outstanding contributions in environmental protection in the past year. They are: Prof. Chua Hong of the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, and Ms Marjorie Yang, Chairman of the University Council and Chairman of Esquel Group, a world-renowned textiles and apparel manufacturer. Prof. Chua was honoured for his invention of bio-degradable plastics and his contributions in protecting the environment, while Ms Yang was honoured for her green business concepts and practices.
