PolyU wins SE Asia’s first Erasmus Mundus grant

PolyU’s Faculty of Humanities has won South East Asia’s first and the only one Erasmus Mundus (EM) Mobility Grant (Lot 4, Action 2 Strand 2 category) awarded by the European Commission. The Faculty has also initiated the formation of a consortium partnership consisting of eight other higher education institutions across Europe and South East Asian countries, with Université de Provence as the coordinator in Europe and PolyU as the coordinator in South East Asia.

At a special ceremony held on 13 December, Prof. Timothy W. Tong, PolyU President, and Ms Maria Castillo Fernandez, Head of Office of the European Union to Hong Kong and Macao, jointly announced the award of this grant by the European Commission to the University.

The grant of nearly €1.4 million will be allocated to successful applicants of the consortium partners in a project titled “Multilingualism and Multiculturalism: linguistic approaches to transition and identity”. More than 80 postgraduate level or above students and faculty members will be selected to undertake an exchange programme that will last for 1-12 months. Details>>
