A delegation led by PolyU President Prof. Timothy W. Tong visited Israel from 19 to 21 June, with a fruitful programme hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel and facilitated by the Israel Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau. Members of the University’s delegation also included Prof. Alex Wai, PolyU Vice President (Research Development); Prof. Wong Kwok-yin, Dean of Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles; and Mrs Winnie Eley, Director of International Affairs. The delegation started with a visit to Weizmann Institute of Science, where they were welcomed by President Prof. Daniel Zajfman. The Institute, well-known for its scientific research and knowledge transfer achievements, is one of the leading universities in the world. In addition, the delegation visited Tel Aviv University and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, exchanging views on the development of higher education and exploring opportunities for collaboration. They also had a meeting with Mr Otniel Schneller, Member of Knesset (Israeli Parliament), and an official tour at Knesset. Prof. Tong remains the first and only Head of Universities in Hong Kong invited to Israel. It is an important milestone for PolyU during its 75th anniversary, as contacts with three top universities and ministries in Israel are made with tangible outcomes. Details>>
