PolyU alumni and staff on 2012 HKSAR Honours List

 

The following 17 PolyU graduates and one staff have been accorded awards or appointed Justices of the Peace by the HKSAR government in recognition of their outstanding professional achievements and services to the community. Congratulations!

Silver Bauhinia Star

Mr Stephen Chan Hung-cheung
(Electrical Engineering graduate)

Mr Chan retired as the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services after serving 29 years with the Government.

Dr Lam Tai-fai 
(Textiles Technology graduate)

Dr Lam is awarded for his significant contribution to the development of small and medium enterprises, and in the promotion of sports and youth development in Hong Kong.

Distinguished Service Medals for the disciplined services and the ICAC 

Dr Albert Cheuk Chun-yin
(Management Studies graduate)

Dr Cheuk is awarded the Hong Kong Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He is now an Assistant Commissioner of Police and has served in the Hong Kong Police Force for over 34 years.

Mr Liu Cheung-shing
(Fabric Manufacture graduate)

Mr Liu is awarded the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Medal for Distinguished Service. He retired as a Chief Superintendent of Customs and Excise after serving in the Customs and Excise Department for over 33 years.

Ms Wong Lai-fun
(Accountancy graduate)

Ms Wong retired as a Deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue of the Inland Revenue Department after serving over 40 years with the Government. 

Medal of Honour

Ir Li Nai-yiu
(Electronic and Information Engineering graduate)

Ir Li is awarded for his valuable contribution in promoting the development of education and culture.

Prof. Lu Qin, Department of Computing (staff)

Prof. Lu is awarded for her valuable contribution to the technological development of electronic communications in Chinese.

Mr Wong Wing-yau
(Mechanical Engineering graduate)

Mr Wong retired as a Deputy Chief Occupational Safety Officer after serving over 35 years with the Government.

Mr Stephen Yuen Ching-bor
(Building and Real Estate graduate)

Mr Yuen is awarded for his valuable contribution to the implementation of Qualifications Framework.

Miss Au-Yeung Wai-sum
(Management and Marketing graduate)

Miss Angel Wong Hiu-ying
(Textile and Clothing graduate)

Mr Lai Chun-ho
(Marketing graduate)

Ms Joan Wong Kam-man
(Applied Social Sciences graduate)

In addition, five alumni have been appointed Justices of the Peace. They are Ms Olga Lam Wai-ha (Civil and Structural Engineering graduate), Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah (Applied Social Sciences graduate), Mr Richard Sun Po-yuen (Accountancy graduate), Mr Woo Kin-ming (Electrical Engineering graduate) and Dr Yau Wing-kwong (Mechanical Engineering graduate).
