PolyU’s Department of Computing (COMP) has played an important role in launching the first IEEE Asia Pacific Cloud Computing Congress on 14 November in Shenzhen, China. Prof. Cao Jiannong, Head of COMP, is a Co-Chair of the Technical Programme Committee and Dr Henry Chan, Associate Professor of COMP, is a General Co-Chair of the Congress.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr Peter Staecker, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) President-Elect; Mr Biao Chen, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen; Prof. Alex Wai, PolyU Vice President (Research Development); Dr Fan Jinping, Director of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology; and other distinguished guests.

COMP has been actively involved in the development of cloud computing in collaboration with international research and industrial communities.
