“i.Dummy” streamlines fitting and production processes Supporting industry development through measurement of tourism indices |
Traditionally, the apparel and garment industry relies heavily on the use of different dummies for designing and fitting different sizes of products before mass production. However, Dr Allan Chan Chee-kooi, Associate Professor at PolyU’s Institute of Textiles and Clothing, together with team members Mr Steven Peng Sixiang and Dr Ameersing Luximon, have developed the revolutionary mannequin “i.Dummy”which can transform itself to fit various sizes and dimensions as well as customized measurements. This breakthrough is unique in the sense that all changes in “i.Dummy” sizes are three-dimensional, varying in width, thickness and length, all at once automatically through a user-friendly Graphic User Interface on a computer or the use of Bluetooth technology on a smart phone. It can also rotate automatically for viewing in 360 degrees, so that every angle of clothes fitting can be assessed. Details>>
