With its growing international recognition, PolyU moved up to the 22nd place in the recently-released Times Higher Education’s Asia University Rankings 2016. Universities are ranked according to their performance in teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.
In another ranking exercise, ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2016 conducted by the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, PolyU was ranked third in the global ranking of the civil engineering subject, same as Tsinghua University in the Chinese mainland.
According to “The Most Cited Researchers” released by ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2016 and Elsevier, 13 academics of PolyU’s Faculty of Construction and Environment are on list with impactful research in four disciplines - civil engineering, energy science and engineering, environmental science and engineering as well as mechanical engineering. Among those disciplines, PolyU tops the world in civil engineering with the largest number of highly cited researchers.
The most cited researchers are: Prof. Albert P.C. Chan, Prof. Li Heng and Dr Ni Meng at the Department of Building and Real Estate; Prof. Wang Shengwei and Prof. Yang Hongxing at the Department of Building Services Engineering; and Prof. Xu You-lin, Prof. Li Xiangdong, Prof. Teng Jinguang, Prof. William Lam Hing-keung, Prof. Poon Chi-sun, Prof. Ni Yiqing, Prof. Anthony Chen and Dr Law Siuseong (retired PolyU academic) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
