18 Mar 2023 | JMC IG Fun Day
On 18th March, JCDISI co-organised "Jat Min Chuen Intergeneration Fun Day" with the Hong Kong Housing Society and the HKFYG Jockey Club Jat Min Youth S.P.O.T. in Jat Min Chuen. The event showcased our past and future work and celebrated the joint achievements of the three parties in creating an "intergenerational and inclusive community".
We were delighted to have Professor Jin-Guang Teng, the President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, joining us to express his support for this cross-sectoral collaboration. Notably, he conveyed the university’s dedication to exploring opportunities to contribute to the community in the future. We would also like to express our gratitude to all members of the community who supported this event, which brought joy to both guests and residents while promoting intergenerational harmony.
JCDISI introduced temporary wayfinding elements in Jat Min Chuen and interacted with residents through the wind corridors of Ming Shun Lau. We found that most participants often used recreational spaces with their family members across generations through an interactive voting. We also discovered that elderly usually preferred to visit the central plaza, while children were more likely to go to the playgrounds and basketball court. The interventions aimed to better understand community needs and explore the potentials of community spaces. Moving forward, JCDISI will continue to work with the community to promote the concept of “intergenerational play spaces”.
