PolyU postgraduate student won championship at international competition on recycling used car batteries

A team formed by Mr Fong Yat-chi (transliteration), PolyU postgraduate student in Electrical Engineering, and Mr Lau Chi-kwong of HK Electric, has garnered three prizes at the International Competition on Second Life for Retired Batteries from Electric Vehicles organized by the Environment Bureau. Proposing to recycle used car batteries for solar power storage, the team has won the championship, the best viability award, as well as the best value and impact award at the Open Group of the competition. The team has devoted extensively to energy management and the proposed idea is planned to be implemented in Po Toi island.
