Seminar on Advanced Antenna Technologies for Far-Field Wireless Power Transfer Enabled IoT Applications

Departmental Visit by Professor Stefan Östlund

We were delighted to have Professor Stefan Östlund, our Departmental Academic Advisor, to visit our Department on 17 and 18 April, 2023. He is the Vice President for global relations at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He teaches courses in electrical machines and drives, power electronics and electric railway traction. Also, he contributes his research effort in power electronics and drives with an emphasis on propulsion and power supplies for electric railway traction and electric vehicles.   During the visit, Professor Stefan Östlund updated the teaching and learning issues with our Department staff members and shared much about electrical engineering with our undergraduate and postgraduate students. We would like to express how much his visit meant to us since his suggestions contributed immensely to the discussion. Seminar on Understanding Blockchain Transaction Behavior From a Complex Network Perspective

Splunk Workshops

Splunk was invited to conduct two exclusive workshops on “Security Investigation with Splunk” and “An Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) Hunting” on 14 and 20 March 2023 respectively for the students taking the EIE1D04 - Cyber Security Essentials and EIE4106 - Network Management and Security subjects. Splunk is a company that produces software for searching, monitoring, and analyzing machine-generated data via a web-style interface. The speakers illustrated the capabilities of the Splunk data platform in searching and correlating multiple data sources for investigating security incidents and threat hunting during the workshops. In the Security Investigation with Splunk Workshop, the participants practiced the creation of a dashboard in just 15 minutes to find out brute force activities, unexpected login sources and web traffic by scanning activities.  While in the APT Hunting Workshop, the students were able to discover the kill chain and the attack technique of the bad actor by using Splunk.
