“Printing High‐Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cells in High‐Humidity Ambient Environment—An In Situ Guided Investigation” published on Advanced Science.

The paper "Printing High-Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cells in High-Humidity Ambient Environment—An In-situ Guided Investigation", coauthored by Patrick Wai-Keung Fong; Hanlin Hu; Zhiwei Ren; Kuan Liu; Li Cui; Tao Bi; Qiong Liang; Zehan Wu; Jianhua Hao; Gang Li, has been published on the premium open access journal, Advanced Science (IF15.84) in January 2021. The team is led by Professor Gang Li and the first author is Dr Patrick Fong, Senior Scientific Officer of EIE. This research aims at solving critical engineering problems in printing novel perovskite solar cells.  Advanced Science is an interdisciplinary journal covering fundamental and applied research in materials science, physics and chemistry, medical and life sciences, as well as engineering. Advanced Science has a 2019 Impact Factor of 15.84 (Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics, 2020)). Advanced Science publishes cutting-edge research, selected through a strict and fair reviewing process and presented using highest quality production standards to create a premium open access journal. ETTE Symposium 2021

A video about cooking up a fun hybrid learning class with Blackboard Collaborate produced by Dr Pauli Lai will be showcased in the Excellent Teachers on Teaching Excellence Symposium on 15 January 2021.

The Excellent Teachers on Teaching Excellence Symposium 2021 organized by the Educational Development Centre of PolyU under the auspices of the Learning and Teaching Committee will be held online on 15 January 2021. The Symposium provides an opportunity for teachers, educators, and students to share insights and experiences in teaching and learning. Under the theme of the event ‘Turning Challenges into Opportunities for Learning and Teaching in Times of Crisis’, a video about cooking up a fun hybrid learning class with Blackboard Collaborate as a key ingredient produced by Dr Pauli Lai has been selected for showcasing in the Symposium to demonstrate the good practices of addressing the learning and teaching challenges. Our BEng in EIE graduate, Lam Lai Ying, won the Third-Class Award in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region IT Project Competition 2020

Our BEng in EIE graduate, Lam Lai Ying, won the Third-Class Award in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region IT Project Competition 2020 with her final-year project on Mining of Public Transportation Data supervised by Dr Ivan Ho. The competition was organized by the Guangdong Province Federation of Computers with the Internet Professional Association (iProA) as the co-organizer for the Hong Kong Region. In the project, Lai Ying aimed to reduce traffic congestion and suggest alternative routes when MTR incidents happen during morning peak hours in Hong Kong via machine learning techniques. The proposed algorithm was validated against semi-realistic SUMO traffic simulation and empirical mobility traces provided by KMB.

Professor Francis Lau named 2021 IEEE Fellow

Professor Francis Lau has brought an honor to our Department as being elevated to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow, effective from 1 January 2021, for contributions to analysis of chaotic communications systems and low-density parity-check code design. IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation. Less than 0.1% of voting members are recommended annually by the IEEE Fellow Committee for this honor. Prof. Din-Ping Tsai and Prof. Gang Li have been named by Clarivate Analytics in its list of “2020 Highly Cited Researchers” as the most influential in the world. Their works have been highly cited by fellow academics and are hence making a significant impact in ongoing research in their respective fields of study. Highly Cited Researchers are selected for their exceptional research performance, determined by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in Web of Science.
