Aims and Characteristics
Programme Aims
This programme consists of the following programmes. Students admitted to the Scheme study together during the first year and then complete their preferred programme, normally within three years. Under this arrangement, students can make their choice after they have obtained a better understanding of the programmes.
Recent advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) have brought people great convenience in their daily lives. Information has become one of the most valuable assets for every country and business and it requires careful protection. Protecting data security and privacy and safeguarding against the risk of potentially devastating security attacks and misuses have thus become a vital concern to all countries and organisations. This programme aims to produce graduates with a wide range of professional knowledge and skills relevant to information security, including but not limited to computer, network, wireless, mobile, database, web, IoT security, audit and compliance. The programme covers both large-scale and small-scale security issues and provides the necessary training to students.
Programme Characteristics
This programme offers a good mix of basic theory, hands-on practice and application. In the latter part of Year Three, students can use the knowledge that they have acquired to conduct an integrated project. During the summer of Year Three, students have the opportunity to join an internship programme. In the Final Year, students can focus on selected areas by choosing relevant electives.
