Honouring nine distinguished alumni at the Award Presentation Ceremony and Dinner of Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2019
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) presented the "Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2019" to nine alumni at the award presentation ceremony and dinner on 30 April 2019 at Hotel ICON. More than 300 distinguished guests including awardees and their families, proposers, award recipients of past years, senior management and staff of PolyU attended the event.
Dr the Hon. Victor Lo Chung-wing, Guest of Honour and Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Prof. Philip C. H. Chan, Interim President of PolyU and Mr Alex Wong Chung-bong, President of the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations presented the awards to the nine distinguished alumni. They are (in alphabetical order of last name): Mr Chu Chen-on, Co-founder of October Pictures Limited, Dr Herman Lau Mun-cheung, Hospital Chief Executive of Bradbury Hospice, Cheshire Home, Shatin, and Shatin Hospital, Sr Lau Ping-cheung, GBS, JP, Managing Director of Biel Asset Management Company Limited and PolyU Council Member, Ir Arthur Lee Kam-hung, Founder and Chairman of Kolinker Group and PolyU Council Member, Mr Alex Lui Chun-wan, a renowned architect and city planner and PolyU Court Member, Mr Elton Ng Chun-ting, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Centre of Rehabilitation & Exercising Specialist, Mrs Natalia Seng Sze Ka-mee, Vice Chairman of Tricor HK and Offshore and Member of Tricor China Management Committee of Tricor Group and Tricor Services Limited, Mr Dominic Tam Jo-tak, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Combine Will International Holdings Limited, and Mr Marcellus Wong Yui-keung, Vice Chairman of AMTD Group.
Addressing the event, Prof. Philip Chan commended the awardees have earned their personal achievements through hard work and perseverance, and made exemplary contributions to their professions and society. Dr Victor Lo praised that the awardees were inspirational leaders and role models for our young generations. Other highlights of the event included live dance performance by PolyU students. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr Alex Wong.
Jointly organised by PolyU and the Federation of PolyU Alumni Associations (FHKPUAA), the biennial "Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award" aims at honouring outstanding graduates of PolyU and its forerunners – the Government Trade School, the Hong Kong Technical College and the Hong Kong Polytechnic – for their distinguished professional accomplishments and significant contributions to the community and their alma mater. Launched in late 1996 and now came to the twelfth time, a total of 82 distinguished alumni in various professions have been honoured in the award selection.
