The ELC mentorship scheme is designed to provide all academic colleagues with an opportunity to share their experience and knowledge, enrich their own professional development and contribute to the development of the English Language Centre. On the ELC Mentorship Scheme, mentees and mentors are expected to meet for around one hour per semester to reflect on teaching practice and discuss ideas for their professional development. It is up to the mentee and mentor to decide when and how often they meet and what they will discuss. Specific examples of support that mentors could offer include: help managing workload; help with networking; support in scholarly activities and research skills; acting as an encourager. It is hoped that the scheme will provide an added layer of support for colleagues in their daily practice and be a source of ideas for developing new skills and working in new areas.
