The Kuok Group
The Kuok Group started more than 70 years ago in Malaysia and is today a multinational group with businesses and investments across numerous sectors including properties, hospitality, agribusiness, logistics, digital infrastructure and maritime.
Since its inception, the Kuok Group, together with its various charitable foundations, has provided grants and donations for educational and medical causes, as well as for general charitable purposes.
With its donation to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Kuok Group hopes to offer more opportunities for students and help nurture the next generation.

Professor Yang Tong
Professor Yang Tong is a distinguished researcher and Chair Professor of Mathematical Science in the Department of Applied Mathematics at PolyU. Previously, he held the Chair Professor of Mathematics at the City University of Hong Kong, where he also served as an Associate Dean of College of Science and Engineering (2007–2011) and Head of the Department of Mathematics (2012–2018).
Professor Yang’s research focuses on partial differential equations and kinetic theory. His notable contributions include the development of the Liu-Yang functional for L1 stability of BV solutions to hyperbolic conservation laws. He has also made significant advancements in fluid dynamic phenomena, boundary layer theories and high Reynolds number limit.
Recognised for his exceptional achievements, Professor Yang was elected as a foreign member (Academician) of European Academy of Sciences (2018), The World Academy of Sciences (2021), and The Hong Kong Academy of Sciences (2021). He was also a foreign member of Academia Europaea (2022) and a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (2021).
Professor Yang received numerous awards and honours, which include the inaugural RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme (2020), the Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award (Science and Technology, First Prize) from the Ministry of Education Higher Education of China (2019, 2022), the State Natural Science Award of China (2nd class) (2012), and the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship (2011).
Actively engaged in the mathematical community, Professor Yang serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of London Mathematical Society: Bulletin, Journal, and the SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis. He was President of the Hong Kong Mathematical Society (2016–2020) and Editor-in-Chief of Analysis and Applications (2013–2017), and is a founding Editor-in-Chief of Kinetic and Related Models, launched in 2008.
