To support teaching and learning, research and administrative activities, PolyU staff and students are entitled to leverage Microsoft Office ProPlus and Office Online. Let’s check them out and learn how to leverage these software to enhance your productivity.
Office ProPlus
Office ProPlus is the classic Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneDrive for Business running on Windows or Mac OS devices. All PolyU full-time permanent staff and current active students are covered under the University license agreement* and eligible to install the latest version of Office ProPlus on up to 5 devices including PC or Mac desktop/notebook, tablets and mobile devices.
With the Office ProPlus software, you can collaborate with anyone anywhere. More features are highlighted below:
- Share: control who can view/ edit/ access the file (click here for details)
- Co-author: real time file editing with anyone (click here for details)
- Comment: use “@” to mention / tag someone for feedback or tracking (click here for details)
- Mobile: use mobile apps to access documents anywhere (click here for details)
Office Online
Office Online is a web-based version of Microsoft Office productivity suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote and etc.) which allows users to access their documents using a web browser with Internet connection.
It also provides flexibility to users who need to switch between devices of different form factors to access the documents/ files anywhere anytime using popular web browser such as Chrome or Safari with no pre-installation of the office software required.
Some application features of Word, Excel and PowerPoint on Online version are slightly different from those on ProPlus version, users may check it out from Microsoft.

*The license will be revoked once a licensed user is no longer a full-time permanent staff or active student, and the program will go into reduced functionality mode.
